Privacy Policy
Effective October 31, 2026 · Version 2026-10-31
Cloudstackers LLC ("we") runs Helpings at helpings.app. This policy says what we collect, why, and who we share it with. Contact: support@helpings.app, or Cloudstackers LLC, 306 W Redwood St #5062, Baltimore, MD 21201.
What we collect
- Account: your email address and name. If you sign in with Google, Google gives us your name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID, which we use only to sign you in.
- Your diary: what you log (text, photos, foods and calories) and your goal. If you have your goal calculated: your sex, age, height, weight and activity level.
- Your agreement to our policies, and that you confirmed you're 18 or older.
- Billing: Stripe takes your card. We receive your subscription details and a card fingerprint (not the number), which lets us offer one trial per person.
- Records of use: sign-in sessions (with IP address and browser), a record of each AI estimate (its time, size and cost, not its content), which features you use (never what you log), and Cloudflare's request logs (including IP address).
- Email you send us.
We don't collect precise location, show ads, use advertising or tracking tools, or buy information about you.
How we use it
To run Helpings: sign you in, keep your diary, estimate calories, calculate your goal, run your plan and billing, keep the service secure and answer you.
We may also use what you log, and your corrections, to improve our estimates, including by training AI models that only Helpings uses. We may publish anonymized statistics combined across many people, such as the most-logged foods, and we never try to re-identify anyone from them.
We don't sell your information or share it for advertising.
AI estimates
For an estimate or an Adjust, we send the AI model what you wrote, your photos, your answers to its questions and what's already logged in that meal that day. We don't send your name, email address, body stats or goal. The model is Google's Gemini on Vertex AI, or on Google AI Studio through OpenRouter when Vertex fails. Google doesn't use it for training. To detect abuse, Google may keep a request for up to 90 days if Vertex flags it, or for 55 days on AI Studio, and it may cache a request for up to 24 hours.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that run Helpings for us, under data processing agreements:
| Provider | For |
|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosting, the database, photo storage, email, logs, site visit counts |
| The AI model and Google sign-in | |
| OpenRouter | Passing AI requests to Google when Vertex fails |
| Product analytics | Counting which features are used |
| Stripe | Payments. Stripe also uses some of this under its own privacy policy, for example to prevent fraud |
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or to whoever takes over Helpings, who would be bound by this policy.
Cookies and tracking
We use only the cookies that keep you signed in. Nobody tracks you across other sites through Helpings, so Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals have nothing to turn off.
How long we keep it
- Your account, diary, photos, agreement and analytics records: until you delete them or your account.
- AI estimate records: 13 months, after which we keep only monthly totals that don't identify anyone.
- Sign-in sessions: until 90 days after you last use Helpings.
- Logs: 7 days. Database backups: 30 days.
- Support email: 2 years.
Your choices
- Download your data or delete your account in Settings.
- Change your name, goal, body stats and entries in the app. To change your email address, email us.
- To withdraw consent, delete your account or email us. Until you agree again, we stop collecting and using your data. This doesn't cancel a subscription; do that in Settings → Manage billing.
- For anything else, such as a copy of other records we hold, email support@helpings.app. We answer within 45 days, free. If we turn you down, reply to appeal.
Security
Connections and stored data are encrypted, and only the owner of Cloudstackers LLC can reach production systems. If a breach affects your information, we'll tell you as the law requires.
Children
Helpings is for adults 18 and older. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we delete it.
Health data
Your diary, photos, body stats and goal can be consumer health data under some state laws. Our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy covers it.
Changes
We post changes here with a new effective date and email you before an important change takes effect. If a change would use information you've already given us in a new way, the app asks you to agree first.
